Building Information Modelling (BIM)
AEW promote a culture of collaboration: this culture is directly aligned with the industry’s shift to BIM. We advocate BIM workflows on all projects and have adopted the principles laid out in 1192 suite of standards.
AEW strongly believe that design work should be undertaken in three dimensions. The use of hardware and software tools to facilitate this have been embedded into our business since 2012. It is integral that our design and construction partners approach projects in the same way to enable the maximum benefit to be realised by our Clients. Our dedicated in house BIM Manager and BIM Coordinator constantly search for improvements to our workflows and processes to drive continual improvements to our service and project outcomes.
By working in this manner, we aim to reduce the amount of uncertainty and risk associated in all of our construction projects. The use of these processes helps to eliminate potential problems from hitting site. These problems have the ability to cause delays and costly re-work for our Clients. The integration of data into the models reduces the amount of re-work carried out at the end of projects when the built asset moves into its facilities management phase.
Each BIM project undertaken by AEW is supported by a designated in house BIM Coordinator. This BIM Coordinator can be appointed in a Project Role, undertaking key duties such as model auditing, clash detection and project governance during the design and construction stages.
We offer support to our clients by acting as Information Manager on projects where suitable, a key role defined in PAS1192:2.
We actively share our BIM knowledge with Clients and Contractors.
