More Than the Role

AEW Plus is the added value we offer to our people, clients and communities.

It includes the support and initiatives we offer as a “People first” business. Supporting our team’s physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

It also includes our focus on helping our team achieve their potential. Supporting their growth and development, both individually and as a collective.

Furthermore, it includes sharing our knowledge and expertise. Building collaborative relationships with our clients, our peers and the next generation through a range of outreach activities.

We adopt a 'People first' approach which prioritises wellbeing, its success is recognised by our Investors in Wellbeing Gold accreditation.

Wellbeing
  • Social Value and Wellbeing Committee
Our Social Value and Wellbeing Committee help embed social value throughout our operations. Together, they organise regular volunteering, charity fundraising and social events which provide great opportunities for our team to learn and develop new skills and build relationships with colleagues which naturally impacts the health and wellbeing of our people. Beyond this, our dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) provide confidential and practical support to all employees and all line managers benefit from mental health training. Together, they work with the EDI and Social Value and Wellbeing Committees to ensure a well-rounded approach to wellbeing in the practice.

  • Equality Diversity & Inclusion Committee
We understand that a positive company culture is fundamental to our team's wellbeing. Through the initiatives of our EDI Committee, we create an inclusive environment that supports diversity within the practice. The EDI team organise events where colleagues come together to share experiences and discuss and learn about EDI. We believe that we are at our best when we can bring our authentic self to work. Our EDI approach embraces that idea and our overall wellbeing philosophy.
  • Continual Conversations
Continual conversations are how we review performance and ensure our team are supported. We don’t wait for a yearly date in the calendar to talk about how a person is developing and performing, we engage with our people regularly and encourage an honest, two-way conversation. By building great relationships with our people and supporting their ambitions, this not only positively impacts their wellbeing but also the practice.
  • Benefits and Recognition
Benefits are not just “nice to haves”. The right benefits can really help support a great work-life balance for the team, and this is the approach that we take. We understand that our people are individuals with different needs, and our range of benefits reflects this. From sabbaticals and paid volunteer days to paid sick days and flexible/hybrid working, our benefits support our wellbeing offer.

We support our people to achieve their potential, with many of our Senior Leadership Team originally joining as students.

Growth and Development
  • Coaching Culture and Mindset
We understand that everyone is individual and has different needs. Supporting and developing an understanding of how mindset impacts on behaviours allows us to tailor development in a more individual way. Embracing a coaching culture and looking at topics such as imposter syndrome, resilience and growth mindset allows us to empower the team focusing on impactful conversations, in the moment feedback and collaboration.
  • Mentoring the Next Generation
We are dedicated to the mentoring and development of the next generation. Our Part I and Part II pledges commit to a programme of training and experience for our students, as well as the support of our own in-house RIBA Examiner to assist with Part III exam preparation. We support apprenticeship schemes for trainee technicians and Part II students and provide support and guidance for Technologists undertaking their CIAT accreditation. Every graduate or young starter is given a dedicated mentor.
