Festive Fundraising for Ronald McDonald House

This December, our team once again supported long-standing charity partner Ronald McDonald House Charities UK with a range of festive fundraising and volunteering activities.

Ronald McDonald House Charities provide free ‘home-from-home’ accommodation for families with seriously ill children in hospital. Their Houses sit moments from major children’s hospitals, giving parents and siblings a comfortable place to stay, cook, rest and remain close to their child during the most difficult times. By removing the financial and logistical strain of travel and accommodation, they help families stay together, focus on their child’s care, and access vital emotional support when they need it most.

With the support RMHC provide being especially important over the festive period, our team took the opportunity to do what we could to help sustain their work.

On Tuesday 9th, we kicked off with a fun-filled Christmas Jumper Day, complete with candy cane sales, a raffle and a big team lunch – all organised by our dedicated Social Value Committee. Together, we raised over £650 for the charity, which AEW will be matching.

On Wednesday 10th, nine members of the team used their AEW volunteering day to head down to our local Ronald McDonald House in Manchester. They spent the day setting up Santa’s grotto, wrapping selection boxes for children and gifts for parents, and painting a festive scene on the House’s reception window – a tradition we continue every Easter, Halloween and December. We also dropped off letters for Santa for children to complete, letting Santa know where they’ll be staying this Christmas.

As a B Corp, we believe in architecture as a force for good and welcome opportunities to support our communities through fundraising, volunteering and mentoring throughout the year. To read more about our approach, visit our Social Value page.
