Parkmount Wins Northern Housing Award

Our Parkmount development has been recognised with a prestigious industry award.
Launched in 2018, the Northern Housing Awards celebrate the individuals, organisations and projects making a positive difference to homes and communities across the North.
We were delighted to see our Parkmount development in Harpurhey named winner in the “Best Affordable Housing Development (up to £10m)” category, sponsored by Altair. The project was shortlisted alongside eight other high-quality developments, making this recognition especially rewarding.
Parkmount is a pioneering project delivered in partnership with MSV and contractor John Southworth. Together, we designed, secured planning for and delivered 24 affordable homes on a brownfield site in Harpurhey. The development forms part of Manchester City Council’s low-carbon affordable homes programme, Project 500, and all 24 homes were designed and built to meet Passivhaus Classic and Low Energy standards.
As our first completed Passivhaus project, Parkmount has provided the team with valuable lessons that Associate Architect and Certified Passivhaus Designer Dan Sutton is now applying across other emerging projects in our portfolio.
Speaking about the award, Dan said: “To be recognised with a leading industry accolade such as the Northern Housing Awards for our first completed Passivhaus scheme reflects the sector’s growing commitment and respect for sustainable development. At AEW, we are continually striving to push innovation and sustainability in our residential designs, and Parkmount has given us a wealth of learning to carry forward.
“Most importantly, these new houses and apartments are already making a real difference, providing comfortable, energy-efficient homes for the people of Harpurhey and helping to create a stronger sense of pride in the community.”
